Head Pastor:
Rev. Dr. Ebenezer Samuel Maama Markwei
Rev. Dr. Ebenezer Samuel Maama Markwei is one of the foundational leaders of the current charismatic renewal movement in Ghana. He is the General Overseer of Living Streams International, a thriving institution whose arms spread from Ghana, through Europe, the United States of America and Brazil in South America.
UK Leadership Team
The UK Reading branch of Living Streams Int. is led by Pastor Lebene Soga and his wife, Mrs Michelle Soga. Professor Soga, affectionately called Pastor Lebby, responded to God’s call in 1998 and has remained faithful in the ministry with the teaching of the Word and demonstration of the Spirit.
With his passion for sound doctrine, he can almost always be heard saying, “if it’s not in the Word, chuck it in the bin!”
Pastor Lebby has served in the ministry in various capacities in Ghana before moving to the UK. These include holding several roles in the youth wing of the ministry and as president in his early years. He has since served (and continues to) as a church planter for LSI, and with his pastoral training, took up the sobering responsibility of pastoring a branch of the ministry since 2008. Pastor Lebby’s ministry has touched many lives. He continues to burn with passion for raising giants for Christ, that is, a people who know Him, live for Him, and make Him known. He is a graduate of Rhema Bible College in London where he obtained a Certificate in Biblical Studies and a Diploma in Ministry.
Pastor Lebby is also a multi award-winning academic, which shines in his audience engagement and teaching. With a first degree (Hons) in Pharmacy, his background can be traced to the sciences where he practised as an award-winning pharmacist for eight years. He also holds a Master of Science (with distinction) in Project Management and a Master of Research (with distinction) in Information Technology, Management and Organisational Change, both from Lancaster University in the UK. His penchant for learning made him pursue and earn a PhD in Management from Henley Business School, University of Reading in the UK. He is currently a full professor at Leeds Business School, Leeds Beckett University, UK.
Running together with our pastor is his dear wife, Michelle, who is passionate about the children’s ministry. She believes every church must say, like Christ, “Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me…” (Matthew 19:14). With this passion for raising children in the fear of The Lord, Minister Mich, as she is affectionately called, designs materials and trains the children at our Kinderchurch. She is constantly formulating new ways to engage our young ones in the Lord while also challenging them to dream big. Michelle is an award-winning pharmacist, a loving leader, and a woman of prayer. She has also served in the ministry for a number of years as a minister in Monarch’s Praise, the church’s music ministry in Ghana before returning to the UK. Like her husband, she also considers herself a student of life who serves others gracefully with her knowledge. She holds a Master of Pharmacy degree from University of Bath in the UK and a Masters in Human Nutrition from the University of Sheffield in the UK.
Dr Yaw Adjei-Amoako serves as Assistant Pastor. He was raised in a Christian home in Ghana and trusted Jesus for salvation from an early age. Upon completing a bachelor’s degree in Ghana, he moved to Norway in 2008 to pursue a Masters degree in Development Studies, and to the UK in 2010 to pursue his PhD. After finishing his doctoral study in Development Studies (University of Reading) and working as an academic in the same university for a few years, an overwhelming sense of call to ministry led him to pursue preparation for pastoral ministry. He completed a Certificate in Biblical Studies and Diploma in Christian Ministry from Rhema Bible College in London. He currently combines the work of ministry with his academic role at the university. Pastor Yaw is married to Gloria, and they have two sons, Caleb and Sean. His burning desire is to see people find their purpose in life, and understand that this purpose should fit into God’s purpose and destiny for one’s life.
Mrs Gloria Amoako was born and raised in a Christian family in Ghana, West Africa and moved to the UK in 2001. She has a passion for music and a dedication to the things of God, which started at an early age, as a member of the Girls Fellowship group and Junior Choir of the Methodist Church she attended in Ghana. Since arriving in the UK, Gloria has continued to serve mostly as a worship leader who has a desire to lead the congregation in worship to God, both in spirit and in truth (John 4:23, 24). Her ministry is underpinned by the belief that, like King David, a worshipper should have a heart for God and for people. Gloria is the leader of our music department in LSI Reading. She is married to Yaw and are together blessed with two sons. As an Accountant by profession, Gloria holds a BA (Hons) degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Portsmouth (UK) and is also Part Qualified ACCA.
